COLLAPSE AS CONDITION

Collapse changes character once it no longer arrives as an event. It becomes the climate within which movement, relation, memory and communication have to operate. Each loss removes a form of support that the previous one still assumed: first the possibility of arrival, then the conditions that make trust, orientation and response meaningful. Life must reorganise around less and less confirmation from the world.

The sequence matters because these absences compound. A route without destination is still a route; a voice without a recipient is already something more exposed. By the end, the problem is no longer how to move through a damaged world, but whether reference remains for experience to become transmissible at all.

Read in order, the notes trace the progressive loss of what makes continuity legible.

  1. 01FLIGHTTHE DESERT LESSONSMovement changes once it no longer leads somewhere. What was once a route becomes the environment itself: a repeated structure that keeps the body going without bringing it closer to arrival.OPEN NOTE
  2. 02RESOURCE NEUROSISSCARCITYCounting changes more than the value of objects. Once every resource becomes finite, relationships acquire cost, trust acquires risk, and another person can become a possible subtraction before they have taken anything.OPEN NOTE
  3. 03INSTITUTIONAL COLLAPSEIDOLS OF MUDAn institution can keep performing authority after losing the legitimacy that made obedience possible. When ritual survives belief, the forms of order remain visible while their capacity to settle conflict begins to hollow out.OPEN NOTE
  4. 04PORTABLE TRAUMANOMAD DEBTMemory becomes heavier when the world that once verified it is gone. What survives must then carry externally the continuity that places, relationships and recognition once maintained without effort.OPEN NOTE
A rope-bound bundle of dark fabric rests on rusted metal beside a pale, exposed landscape.
NO RESPONSE
  1. 05TOTAL VULNERABILITYEXPOSUREA call does not fail only when no answer comes back. It fails more radically when there may be no receiving position left for the call to address at all.OPEN NOTE
  2. 06SENSORY ERASURESAND BLINDA body can keep moving after the world has stopped confirming direction. When reference fails, agency contracts from navigation to something smaller: the ability to maintain contact.OPEN NOTE
Torn translucent strips hang from a rusted frame while a loose cable crosses the pale horizon.
SIGNAL LOSS
  1. 07DIGITAL APHASIASTATIC SCRIPTUREThe last refuge is the possibility of a shared past becoming a shared future. When that continuity fails, words, records and evidence may survive after the people they describe can no longer recognise themselves within them.OPEN NOTE
